Green National Highways Corridor Project

The Government of India recently inked 500 million USD loan pact with World Bank to develop Green National Highway Corridors in the country. These corridors are to be developed in Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The project will support the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to construct 783 kilo metres of highways. The roads built under the project will combine safe and green technology designs. It will use industrial by products, marginal and local materials and other bioengineering solutions.

Legion of Merit

The President of United States conferred the Legion of Merit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister has been awarded for his steadfast leadership and vision for India’s emergence as a global power. The award was received by the Ambassador of India to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Boeing’s Super Hornet Fighter Jet for Indian Navy

The US based Aircraft Giant Boeing recently announced that the F/A-18F Super Hornet Fighter Jet of the company has successfully completed the ski-jump. This makes it suitable for the Aircraft Carriers of the Indian Navy. The company has proposed to the Indian Navy under its “By India For India” programme.

Kilauea Volcano on Hawaii Big Island

The Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii’s Big Island recently erupted after an Earthquake that struck the region. The epicentre of the earthquake was located beneath the Kilauea Volcano.


The Gujarat Government recently issued advisory on Fungal infection called “Mucormycosis”. It is a serious infection with a mortality rate of 50%. It compromises the immune system.

Mucormycosis is now becoming common among COVID-19 recovered patients. This shows how the COVID-19 recovered patients are prone to immunity related issues. According to a UK study, COVID-19 recovered patients lose 90% immunity in two-three months.

Mucormycosis is a fungal infection that infects the throat, nasal area and soon spread to eyes, brain and then the entire body. The disease becomes life threatening as it starts infecting the brain. Its rapid spread worsens the condition leading to multiple organ failure. In due process, it damages immunity and makes patients infection-prone.

SEHAT Scheme

On December 26, 2020, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to launch the SEHAT Scheme for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. SEHAT is Social Endeavour for Health and Telemedicine.

Bengal Basin-India’s Eighth Functional Basin

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation recently began oil production from Ashokenagar-1 well located in the Bengal Basin. With this Bengal Basin becomes the eighth oil producing basin in India. The other oil producing basins of India are located in Mumbai Offshore, Krishna-Godavari river basin, Cauvery, Assam Shelf, Rajasthan, Assam-Arakan, Cambay and Fold Belt.
