Khelo India: Six Centre of Excellence approved by Ministry of Sports

The Ministry of Sports has approved 6 Khelo India Centres of Excellence in six different states. Khelo India centre of excellence is an initiative of the Sports Ministry to upgrade the existing sports infrastructure in all states and Union Territories. The ministry has announced a financial support of over 64 crore to upgrade these six Khelo India centres.

All DISCOMS to comply Energy Conservation Act, 2001

The Ministry of Power, Government of India has released an official notification that mandates all the Electricity Distribution Companies

(DISCOMs) to comply Energy Conservation (EC) Act, 2001. As per the official notice, all the DISCOMs will now be governed under the various provisions of EC Act like Energy Accounting & Auditing, Implementation of energy conservation & efficiency measures, identification of Energy Losses, Appointment of Energy Manager, etc.

India attends SCO Summit: Key Facts

On November 10, 2020, India attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. India was represented by PM Modi at the summit. This is the 20th summit of the organization and third for India since it became a member in 2017. India was an observer at the SCO since 2005.

CHECK: World’s first CRISPR CaS-9 based diagnostic tool

Tata Medical and Diagnostics Ltd (TataMD) have unveiled “TataMD CHECK” which is a novel diagnostic testing for COVID-19. It is the world’s first CRISPR CaS-9 based diagnostic tool and is powered by FELUDA. CRISPR Cas-9 is a technology developed in India by CSIR- IGIB for COVID-19 testing. TataMD is the healthcare venture of Tata Group.

Australia-India Water Centre inaugurated

Australia-India Water Centre (AIWC) has been inaugurated in a virtual event. This Water Centre is led by IIT Guwahati from Indian side and University of Western Sydney from the Australian side. Along with this, the centre has 21 partners from India and Australia.

What is National Common Mobility Debit (NCMC) card of Karnataka Bank?

Karnataka Bank Ltd. has launched the National Common Mobility Debit (NCMC) card. It is the first-ever contactless debit-cum-prepaid Rupay Card of the bank and is an inter-operable transport card. This debit card has been launched in-line with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ vision. The Rupay-NCMC debit card was launched by the Managing Director & CEO of the bank, Mahabaleshwara M S.

India and Maldives sign four agreements

India and Maldives have agreed over four MOUs during the visit of India’s Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to Maldives. The four MOUs were signed for cooperation in sports and youth affairs; connectivity project, setting of plant and soil testing labs.

Nepal President releases Special Anthology on Mahatma Gandhi

Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari has released a special pictorial anthology on Mahatma Gandhi to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This anthology is written in the Nepali language. The book was launched at a special function held at in Kathmandu in the presence of Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Ethiopia’s Tigray Crisis

The Ethiopian National Defense Force conducted airstrikes against the forces of Tigray region as a result of the conflict between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). As of now, military operations as well as air strikes have been conducted against the forces of Tigray region since November 4.

The Mumbai based research non-profit India Migration Now has recently released “Interstate Migrant Policy Index” (IMPEX). The index measures integration of interstate migrants.

NASA: Earth Surface Mass has deviated

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration recently announced that the Earth Mass has deviated in August 2020 as compared to that of 2004-09. According to NASA, the sea level increase may be due to the change in earth mass.

First Anniversary of Kartarpur Corridor celebrated

The Pakistan Gurudwara body, PSGPC (Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee) is to celebrate the first anniversary of the inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor. The Corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak in India with Gurudwara Darbar Sahib.

GoI: 29 Projects approved to benefit Farmers

On November 9, 2020, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar chaired Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee meeting. The committee approved 29 projects leveraging investment of Rs 443 crores.

On November 10, 2020, India attended first BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ meet. The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman represented India at the meet.
