India- Mexico held their 8th Joint Commission Meeting on 29 October 2020.  The Meeting was co-chaired by Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of Republic of India (EAM) and H. E. Marcelo Ebrard, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States.

Indian Navy test fired the Anti-Ship Missile (AShM) from INS Kora in Bay of Bengal on October 30, 2020. The missile was test-fired in the Bay of Bengal and it hit the target ship at maximum range with the precise accuracy.

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated “Arogya Van” in Kevadia, Gujarat on October 30, 2020. This was launched in the aftermath of Ekta Diwas celebrations which is being observed on October 31, 2020. Centre has decided to import potatoes to control price rise

The central government has allowed the import of 10 lakh tonnes of potatoes on October 29, 2020 in order to control the rising prices. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) notified about this decision.

Indian Air Force test fired air launched version of BrahMos missile

The Indian Air Force, on October 30, 2020,  has successfully test fired an air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.  The cruise missile was test-fired from the Sukhoi fighter aircraft in the Bay of Bengal. The missile successfully hit a sinking ship with pin-point accuracy.

Highlights of Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2020 for Rural India

The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) for Rural India was recently released by the autonomous research and assessment unit Pratham Education Foundation. This year, the survey was conducted over phone calls.  The survey was carried out  in 26 states and 4 Union Territories. It surveyed around  52,227 households and 59,251 children in the age group of 5-16 years.  It also surveyed 8963 teachers and principals.
